Dr. David Sanders, Dr. Jake Bennett, Dr. Lucien Cremaldi, Dr. Rob Kroger

In 2020 we had  a planning meeting in June and then Zoom Workshop on Wed.  July 22.   Dr. Jake Bennett introduced the  Belle II Central drift chamber and the TOP Cherenkov detector. We were aiming to discuss particle identification by cherenkov effect and ionization energy loss of charged particle in these devices. An exercise on particle identification was presented by Dr.  Cremaldi.  Particle events were  loaded on to a web page for easy access by teachers. We broke in to coharts to identify the particle in each event as electrons, muons, pions, kaons, or protons based on the light output in the Belle II TOP detector and dE/dx ionization energy loss in the Belle II CDC.   We discussed the Cosmic ray stand with MSMS teacher William Fundeburk and how we might use it in 2021.  Several teachers loaded practicums to the web site for remote learning activities.   Dr. Bennett discussed the details of using Zoom chat rooms and such with the teachers.
