QuarkNet e-Lab Poster Challenge 2017

What is the Poster Challenge?

Make a poster in a QuarkNet e-Lab between April 17 and May 31, 2017, register your poster for the Challenge, and wait to see! QuarkNet staff will judge the posters and shortly announce the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place posters!

  • Did International Muon Week excite your interest in Cosmic Ray studies? Make a research project and a poster in the Cosmic Ray e-Lab!
  • Did International Masterclasses inspire you to take the next step in LHC data analysis? Make a research project and a poster in the CMS e-Lab!
  • Looking for a great project to combine basic physics and earth science? Make a research project and a poster in the LIGO e-Lab!

What are the rewards?

Students with winning posters will receive a certificate and other cool (or nerdy) prizes to be announced. All students get the satisfaction of completing a physics research project.

What are the rules?

Simple:

  1. Entrants must be high school students sponsored by a QuarkNet teacher or staff member.
  2. The research may have started anytime but the poster must be produced between April 17, 2017 and May 31, 2017.
  3. Posters may be produced by individuals or by teams of no greater than 3 students.
  4. The work presented by the students in their posters must be their own.
  5. Posters will be judged based on the rubrics in the e-Labs as well as how interesting the posters the research are and the quality of the science.
  6. Judgements of the posters are final.

Registration

Teachers should register students entering the competition on the Student-Teacher Registration form.

When the poster is completed, a student or teacher must register it on the Completed Poster form.
