There is a link to this page in the Scratchpad section of your main spreadsheet.

Use of backups if main spreadsheet linked above is slowed down by heavy traffic: |
If there are many users, the Google online spreadsheets we use can experience significant delays due to heavy traffic. Please use these backup solutions ONLY if your students experience this problem.
Online solution:
- Find one of the single-use online spreadsheets below; check that it is not being used by another group. If it is, try another.
- Once you have an unused spreadsheet, put the name of your Institute at the top of of the Scratchpad page.
- Have students enter results in Data_A or Data_B just as they would in the main spreadsheet.
- When students are finished (30 min or more before videoconference), proceed with steps 5 and 6.
- Carefully transfer the numbers from line 32 (Institute Totals) in the Results tab of your backup spreadsheet to a blank line above Institute Totals in the Results tab for your Institute in the main spreadsheet.
- Carefully transfer the non-zero numbers from the totals in the Massplot tab of your backup spreadsheet (line 49) to a blank line above line 42 in the Massplot tab for your Institute. Be sure each number goes above the correct mass.
- If everything transfers properly, you should be able to use the main spreadsheet in your physics discussion and in the videoconference.
- If you are unable to properly transfer results, use the backup in your physics discussion and show it on the Vidyo shared desktop when you make your rpeort in the videoconference.
Offline solution:
- Find this link below: "Download xls for local use"
- Download the spreadsheet for each computer used by students in data analysis.
- Students should find their datasets in Data_A or Data_B and analyze as they would with the main online spreadsheet.
- When each pair of students is finished, they should carefully transfer the numbers that appear in a single line in the Results tab of their local spreadhseet to the same line in the Results tab for your Institute in the main online spreadsheet.
- Students should carefully transfer the non-zero numbers from the totals in the Massplot tab of thie local spreadsheet (line 49) to a blank line above line 42 in the Massplot tab for your Institute in the main online spreadsheet. They must be sure each number goes above the correct mass.
- If everything transfers properly, you should be able to use the main spreadsheet in your physics discussion and in the videoconference.
In both cases above, please allow extra time to arrange a solution and to transfer data, even if you have to start analysis a little late and stop it a little early. Be sure you leave 30 minutes before the videoconference to discuss results with students. |
