Summer Workshop at W&M, 8/12/13 - 8/14/13
What did you do this week?:
Mentor (Josh Erlich) and seven teachers participated in this summer's workshop:
Laura Akesson, Joe Fehr, Mike Fetsko, Tom Gallo, Hank Horn, Maria Niland, Deborah Roudebush.
Day 1 (10am-5pm):
Horn gave eddy current/Lenz's law demos to the other teachers.
Erlich talk on physics beyond the standard model.
Comprehensive review and discussion of the new AP Physics courses, led by Roudebush.
Day 2 (8:30am-5pm):
Mariani talk on neutrinos (x2).
Tour of Aubin's ultra-cold atom lab.
Planning for recruitment workshop next summer, other activities for the coming academic year.
Erlich agreed to work on recruiting Williamsburg-area teachers and look for additional funding sources.
Day 3 (8:30am-3pm?):
More planning.
Erlich talk on extra dimensions.
Five teachers went on JLab tour in the pm.
