UnWorkshop Tutorial for Teachers

 

Objectives

  • Use an AI engine to create a set of slides on how AI has developed from and with machine learning in experimental particle physics.
  • Participate in a presentation of those slides by the group leader.

 

Participants work in a single group.

 

Part 1. Write the prompt.

Guided by the mentor, write a prompt for an AI engine to create slides to:

  • Describe modern experimental particle physics data analysis using computational tools.
  • Show how ML has developed as a tool in data analysis and why it is needed.
  • Show how ML leads to AI.

Make specifications of the number of slides, technical level (e.g. presentable to an AP Physics class), what constitutes "modern" and other parameters.

 

Part 2. Inspect and critique slides.

With your mentor, look over the slides and then prompt the AI engine for edits. (The group may repeat as needed, respecting time limits.)

 

Part 3. Mentor presents slides, adding his or her own comentary, emphases, criticisms, etc. Participants ask questions.
