ATLAS Event for 8 November 2012

A Tale of Two Taus

This event in ATLAS shows two tau leptons. One of them decays into a single hadron plus a neutrino; the other tau decays into three hadrons plus a neutrino. The neutrinos are undetected and taken into account with the red "missing energy" (ETmiss) arrow. The hadrons show up as tracks and energy deposits. Two tau particles can result from the decay of a Higgs candidate. The collision mass of 121 GeV is in the right range.
