Videocon meeting notes, 20 June 2013

Present: Trapp, Dower, McClary, Wadness, Fetsko, Cecire

Most of the discussion was informal and centered on the CMS e-Lab. Main points:

  • we should come up with some suggested projects for students (beyond "find the Z mass")
  • poster search in important; lots of "find the Z mass", though
  • we should come up with a tool or scaffolding for students to do stats on peaks...find width, significance, etc
  • general agreement that the interface to data should not show parent particles, with exception below
  • organize data into "Shift Training" and "Data Operations", where Shift Training has Z data to learn basics


Other stuff:

  • If you have not added your profile to drupal (quarknet.i2u2.org) please do so; ask for help if needed
  • Maybe create an LHC Fellows drupal group for our internal, not-so-public use <-- DONE!
  • Ken needs to create an agenda for AAPT - stay tuned
  • coming soon: 100K dielectron events, first csv, later in e-Lab
  • interesting: AMS (ams.cern.ch and ams.nasa.gov)
