International Muon Week 2025

March 2-8, 2025

International Muon Week is an opportunity for teachers and students to perform an experiment with cosmic ray muons and share those results with others around the globe who are carrying out the same experiment. This year's focus will be a simple muon rate measurement with the exciting possibility of observing a change in the muon rate due to Coronal Mass Ejection events from the Sun.  Coronal mass ejections: What are they and how do they form ...

The same process that leads to auroras on Earth also distorts to Earth's magnetic field - resulting in a change in muon flux.

If interested in participation, please register here.

For additional details for the measurement, see these instructions that will provide more advice as we approach International Muon Week.
