Spring 2026 Physics Mini-Meeting

NC A&T QuarkNet Spring 2026 Physics Mini-Meeting

Saturday, May 30, 2026 (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM)

Location: NC A&T Smith Hall Room 3001, 402 Laurel Street, Greensboro, NC, 27411

This workshop is specifically for high school Physics teachers interested in becoming members of a core of physics teacher members and leaders in the NC QuarkNet Center.  We encourage everyone to volunteer to share briefly (5-10 min) in one of the two share-a-thon sessions:  either some physics teaching practice or strategy that you have found helpful in your classroom, or some quantum or modern physics activity.

NC A&T QuarkNet Center 2026-2027 Academic Year Planning

  • Event and Workshops:
    • Fall QuarkNet Workshop in October (opened to all, stipened for high school teachers)
    • Fall Data Day in November (student-facing)
    • Spring Masterclass in March-ish (student-facing)
    • Spring PICUP Computation in Physcis Workshop
    • Spring SHAPE - Partnership with UNC Physics

  • Potential PLC:  Targeting a specific standard to develop lessons, share different approaches and best practices, low-cost materials or how to work with available resources (or cheap resources).  Meet monthly, physics and physical science.  Start on Zoom, maybe alternate Zoom and in-person.  Next steps:  GCS teachers will share at their PD days, then we will have a Zoom first meeting.

  • Other resources:  QED - QuarkNet Education Discussions are monthly Wednesdays, Virtual QuarkNet Center (monthly Sundays), email Charlie Payne at paynec@ncssm.edu to join either of these.
