The MINERvA Masterclass enables students to explore the interactions of neutrinos with atomic nuclei. In the MINERvA experiment., a beam of neutrinos encounters a carbon target in the detector. The neutrinos cannot be seen but the detector can track the the particles that come out ot the neutrino-carbon collision: a muon and a proton. Students will look at events displays, decide which events are background and which are events of interest, and then measure the momenta of the products. Students use the measurements to probe the inner workings of the nucleus!
